White Flowers Wall Sculpture

This is a unique sculpture featuring white flowers and a beautiful butterfly, mounted on a cradled wood panel.
The flowers and the butterfly were "drawn" with a 3D pen and PLA filament. Working with a 3D pen is literally drawing with plastic.
Vulnerable areas of the design were strengthened by adding more filament until the structure felt robust.

After two layers of acrylic gesso and acrylic white paint added respectively, strong stainless steel pins were attached to the underside of the flowers.
The cradled wood panel was also painted with gesso and white acrylic paint after I'd drilled multiple holes ready for the pins.

The pins create a 12mm shadow gap between the sculpture and the panel which looks really effective. The pins are secured on the back of the panel and hanging hardware has been installed.

This is a really stylish piece which looks stunning on a wall. The splash of colour from the butterfly against the pure white background is extremely effective.
