Sculpted Flower Wreath 2

It's hard to believe that these intricate flowers were formed from plastic waste.

I challenged myself to create a sculpted piece that had all the detail and beauty of porcelain but was made entirely out of used milk containers.

This wasn't an easy project as each flower and leaf had to be cut out by hand and wired to the metal ring as I have never found a glue that forms a permanent bond on HDPE plastic.

I can carefully manipulate the plastic over a candle flame to create curls and folds but it's very easy to overheat the delicate parts and find yourself with a melted, stinky mess.

This wreath looks so stylish on a wall. It's stronger and more durable than paper and nowhere near as fragile as porcelain. I think the main beauty of this piece is that all those milk jugs wound up as something quite beautiful and truly unique.
