Lace Tree Wall Hanging

This drawing of a tree looks like delicate lace but it has been created with a 3D pen and flexible plastic filament. The filament is heated in the pen and comes out hot and pliable. As the filament is worked into a drawing it cools to form a permanent piece of art.

I use a TPU which has been made from 100% recycled materials. It consists of waste from the shoe industry. I love making art from waste products.

The TPU is incredibly strong and durable but it is also lightweight so this artwork is easy to hang. It looks best displayed on a light, solid colour background and it hangs beautifully from a wooden dowel.

The tree measures 89cm in width and the height is 69cm. The dowel is 91cm.

The inspiration for this piece came from a particularly magnificent oak tree near where I live.
